Our Mission
The mission of Community Arts and Culture is to foster appreciation and understanding of a vast assortment of arts and cultures by educating individuals of all ages and social backgrounds through workshops, lectures and artistic performances in local communities. Community Arts and Culture strives to provide underserved areas with an outlet to participate in outreach programs and to nurture an array of local artists who exemplify the diversity found in the South Florida community.
Our History
Community Arts & Culture, Inc. (CAC) was incorporated September 2002 in Miami, FL. Prior to our organization receiving its 501©(3) status, the Arts at St. Johns served as a fiscal agent for our programs and development. For their 2003/2004 season, the Arts at St. Johns received funding through a DAN grant to serve as an incubator for emerging arts administrators which included Jose Elias (President) and our organization. CAC received its 501©(3) status in February 2004. To date, the organization has co-presented events with the Rhythm Foundation, Arts at St. Johns, F.I.U.’s INDAMI Department, Amnesty International, 7th Circuit Productions , Moksha Family, and the N.B.B.T.(North Beach Bandshell Trust) workshops by a variety of multimedia artists. We closed 2008 with a collaborative event with the Moksha Family and COSM Gallery in Presenting the work of world renown artist Alex Grey. The event was a huge success, drawing big crowds and showcasing world class local performance artists and musicians. The event received international media coverage by the BBC and Al Jazeera news. Over the years, our events have been underwritten by Miami-Dade Department of Cultural Affairs, Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce, Miami Beach Cultural Arts Council, Amnesty International, Community Pharmacy, WLRN 91.3 FM, Atlantic Broadband, Treister Murry Agency, Beach Bank, Arab American National Foundation, WDNA 88.9 FM, The New Times, The Sun Post, F.I.U.’s INDAMI department, Project Challenge, Wild Oats Market, the National Association of Women Business Owners (N.A.W.B.O.), Peroni Beer, the North Beach Bandshell Trust (N.B.B.T.), 7th Circuit Productions and other individual and private supporters.
